Refugee Health Promotion

About Refugee Health Promotion Ι 732-357-0590 Ι info@interfaithrise.org

Refugee Health Promotion (RHP) provides services to support the health and well-being of refugees and other eligible newcomers during their first years of resettlement for up to five years. The program focuses on increasing health literacy through structured education and outreach, assisting individuals in navigating medical and mental health systems, and ensuring access to appropriate and coordinated care.

Services include group health education, individualized outreach, medical and mental health case management, and the development of referral pathways to address language and cultural barriers. RHP also supports mental health literacy initiatives and facilitates wellness groups that promote social connection and reduce isolation.

All services are delivered in a culturally and linguistically appropriate, client-centered manner to address immediate health needs while strengthening long-term community capacity and access to care.  Recent RHP efforts have included the following:

*Group health education classes (topics have included introduction to the U.S. health care system, over the counter medication use, and healthy eating)
*Individualized outreach (e.g., development of county-specific health and wellness resources, health fairs, and in-house clinics with partners)
*Medical and mental health case management (e.g., scheduling medical, dental, and mental health care appointments)
*Mental health literacy initiatives and wellness groups (e.g., basic mental health psychoeducation workshop, sleep hygiene and mental health workshop, and Haitian peer support groups)
*And more!
