HIGHLAND PARK – Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders, together with Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., gathered Monday to combat the recent backlash facing Syrian refugees and caution against what they saw as a “knee-jerk” reaction to the terror attacks in Paris that left 130 dead.

“This has always been a place of refuge for those being oppressed,” Pallone, D-N.J., said during an interfaith panel he convened at The Reformed Church of Highland Park. “No one who has been admitted as a refugee has ever been involved in a terror attack.”

Pallone also blasted a bill passed by the House last week to halt the resettlement of Syrian refugees until they undergo a more stringent vetting process, one the White House has said would add needless delay to a process that already can take four or more years…read more.
